Gender equality in employment has become a hot topic for debate in recent years. Some people believe that certain jobs are suitable only for men, whereas other are perfect only for women. However, others claim that there are no female or male professions.
As far as I am concerned, the employee’s gender does not determine his or her future job. To begin with, both men and women are equal in professional abilities, because nowadays they get equal education. Moreover, the modern world provides equal rights for all people and spreads the idea of the tolerance to distinct preferences of different people. This means that nowadays everyone has an opportunity to work whomever he/she wishes. For example, men who are fond of fashion are able to work as models or designers, which have been considered to be female kinds of jobs lately, while women can hold office of bosses in worldwide corporations.
However, some people do not agree with my point of view. According to them, a gender gap in employment exists, because the masculine gender is smarter and stronger than the female one. They support their opinion by the fact that women are highly unlikely to work as loaders or scientists.
Nevertheless, I do not agree with this argument. This is exactly owing to my belief that neither men nor women have been proven to be smarter than the other sex. In addition, the fact that women lacked muscle power did not deter them from pursuing their career goals.
In conclusion, I would like to state that there are no gender-specific jobs. These days everyone has a chance to choose the job according to his/her preferences.
