The negative effects of tourism outweigh the positive ones

Nowadays tourism plays an essential role in people’s and different countries’ lives and provides a great deal of advantages. Some people, however, claim that the disadvantages from it prevail over its benefits.

As far as I am concerned, positive effects of tourism outweigh its drawbacks for a few reasons. Firstly, it allows people to get acquainted with other countries’ culture and history and, therefore, to become more educated and experienced. Secondly, in some countries tourism industry is a major source of income. The last but not the least is that it encourages governments to restore and preserve historical sites and monuments.

However, some people do not agree with my point of view. According to them, tourism does more harm than good. They insist that with the development of tourism the rise of migration took place. Besides, travellers do not always obey the other countries’ rules which reflects in acts of vandalism and other crime commitments.

Nevertheless, I do not agree with these arguments because they are not convincing for me. This is exactly owing to my belief that disobedience among tourists can be prevented by taking special measures.

In conclusion, I would like to state that the positive aspects of tourism overcome negative ones, indeed. Tourism leads to development, provides experience sharing, broadens people’s horizons.
